A diaphragm valve is a shut-off and control valve that uses a flexible diaphragm to regulate the flow of liquid.

Open valve
The diaphragm is lifted above the seat, allowing the medium to flow freely.

Closing the valve
The operating mechanism pushes the diaphragm down onto the seat (or weir in the valve body).

Closed valve
The diaphragm is pressed against the seat and hermetically seals the flow.

The medium does not come into contact with the moving parts of the valve—it is separated by the diaphragm. This ensures high tightness and protects the mechanism.
